A very restless and painful night over here. Erik's oxygen would drop and set off the alarm every time he started to sleep! They finally put him on oxygen around 3:30am, so he got a couple bouts of sleep, an hour at a time. They're monitoring his insulin level, so are still poking him in the finger every hour. His throat is still really sore but he got some lozenges about 3:00am that seemed to help. He also had some pretty serious hiccups for a couple hours, which didn't help, and the neck IV port is really bothering him. But even with all that, he's resting a lot more comfortably this morning.
Dr Gundle was just here, and he said the insulin drip, neck IV, and one of the drains can all come out today! They're also looking at taking him off the epidural drip today or tomorrow. He wants Erik to stick with clear liquids as much as possible today, and sit up and walk around a bit. Everything's on course and looking good!
